At a minimum possession of a 2ND Class Stationary Engineer's Certificate for steam boilers and a 2ND Class Stationary Engineer's Certificate for Air Conditioning. Must have EPA certification. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be available for scheduled shift work after regular working hours and during holidays. Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and repair of energy management systems. Skill in the operation, maintenance, and repair of energy management systems. Ability to operate, maintain and repair energy management systems. This position is considered an essential personnel position and must be available to respond to campus emergencies after normal business hours and during campus closures. The employee may be assigned to the emergency team that remains on campus and or evacuate to an off-site location during emergency events and expected to return to work after severe weather events or other emergencies. Other Information About the Position LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking motivated individuals for the position of Operating Engineer Master. There are multiple vacancies. Must be available to work shifts. Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: a) operates, monitors, and controls system wide output; b) serves as sole operator on an assigned shift; c) operates auxiliaries including firing up steam boilers, starting and stopping chillers, pumps, cooling towers, HVAC exchangers, refrigeration, and HVAC equipment a) makes hourly readings and enters on log sheets; b} performs chemical & softener tests; f) blows down boilers; d) reads gauges to check water levels, steam pressure, and operation of valves and auxiliary pumps maintains, inspects, and repairs mechanical equipment and components including compressors, condensers, expansion valves, service valves, thermostats, coils, and drive assemblies maintains, inspects and repair pumps, motors, control systems, piping, and other equipment used in mechanical systems; c) cleans and/or replaces filters on heating/air conditioning units as necessary responds to temperature complaints from building occupants reports all unsafe situations immediately to supervisor or higher authority as needed to correct the condition as quickly as possible takes immediate action to personally stop unsafe acts if delay to inform supervisor may allow accident to occur a) serve as lead-worker over subordinate Building Systems employees; b) assists other trades as needed; c) special events work; d) campus maintenance emergencies; e) work orders; f) picking up parts and materials from vendors
Compensation:
Starting rate of pay $21.05 per hour. There is also an additional $1 Longevity pay, $2 Shift pay and $3 Weekend Shift pay for hours worked only. Rate may be increased depending on applicants' qualifications.

Three years of experience or training in the operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
For those positions in which incumbents will be working with and handling refrigerants, possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians will be required (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).
Certifications or Licenses Preferred:
