Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Construction Field Engineer / Quantity Keeper to support our heavy civil construction projects. This role is essential in tracking production quantities, validating field reporting, and supporting cost control processes. You will work closely with Project Managers and Field Supervision to ensure projects are delivered safely, accurately, on time, and within budget. Key Responsibilities Interpret contract plans and specifications to support field operations Track, verify, and report production quantities accurately Maintain accurate tracking of completed work areas using tools such as Stack or Bluebeam Ensure field activities meet project requirements and production goals Prepare and review daily reports detailing work performed, delays, and issues encountered Review and correct Foreman Daily Reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness Validate cost codes, production quantities, labor, and equipment in daily reporting Document extra work and assist in tracking change order items Assist in pricing extra work and pending change orders Coordinate with Project Managers and Field Supervision to monitor job costs and production budgets Review and verify material delivery tickets for accuracy and proper cost allocation Create and follow up on Miss Utility tickets as required for project coordination Support and train field staff in the use of HCSS HeavyJob, HCSS Field, Procore, and related tools Communicate effectively with project teams to ensure accurate project tracking and documentation Qualifications Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent (preferred) Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Working knowledge of HCSS HeavyJob (required) and HCSS Field Mobile App (preferred) Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Valid driver's license required Spanish proficiency is a plus Required Experience Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy civil construction, field engineering, or quantity tracking Experience tracking production quantities, daily reporting, and cost coding Experience reviewing and validating Foreman Daily Reports and field documentation Experience supporting job cost tracking, production analysis, and change order documentation Experience working on DOT or highway construction projects; Maryland SHA experience preferred Experience working directly with field teams, including foremen and superintendents Work Requirements Ability to work in outdoor environments and active construction sites Ability to travel to job sites across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Work hours may include extended days and weekends as project demands require What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience Comprehensive benefits package: Health, Dental, Vision 401(k) / Retirement plan PTO Career advancement opportunities within a growing company Stable, long-term projects in the region Supportive, team-oriented culture
