Field Engineer in the Washington DC/Northern Virginia area. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10+ years working on major tunnel construction projects and will possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. Compensation:
$144,000 - $164,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

NATM / SEM FIELD ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Field Engineer managing the working and reporting for the Piney Branch Tunnel (part of DC Water's Clean Rivers Project)
NATM/SEM
underground structures including geotechnical and structural component field engineering and condition inspections.
Serve as Field Representative for the Engineer-of-Record for LJB designs.
Responsible for the determination of the initial support type in the field and monitoring of the tunnel.
Construction Inspection including attending progress meetings, developing meeting minutes, submittals reviews, and preparation of weekly and daily inspection reports. Specifically, the following tasks: Facilitate daily Required Excavation Support (RES) meetings on site and present Daily Report.
Support project QA/QC Team.
Perform construction inspection assignments or site visits of on-going construction work and attend progress meetings.
Prepare daily inspection reports sufficiently detailed and maintained, including all relevant photographs, and uploaded to electronic project folders.
Coordinate with all utilities, approval agencies, etc.
Assist with and coordinate all required materials testing under the Consultant's scope, including review of all materials testing to ensure conformance to the Contract DocumentsAssist with maintaining, updating and reviewing tracking sheets/logs for Risk Registry, RFIs, RFQs, CCOs, Submittals, Working Days, other issues, etc. and ensure relevant documents are provided and dealt with in a timely manner.
Assist with maintaining an up-to-date deficiency log and ensure all deficiencies are dealt with and/or being dealt with in a timely manner.
Provide feedback on construction schedule submissions including narrative reports and two-week look ahead schedules provided by the Contractor.
Ensure that the Contractor adheres to all requirements of the Contract and enforce such requirements should they not be adhered to.
Track red-line drawings with Contractor and ensure adequacy of such information being captured.
Attend bi-weekly meetings, risk registry workshops and scheduling workshops and any other required meetings with utility companies, approval agencies, Client etc. as may be required throughout the course of construction.
Coordinate and follow-up with all engineering disciplines to review shop drawings, RFIs, and other relevant construction documentation as required.
Ensure proper health and safety protocols are adhered to on site in accordance with OSHA, and raise concerns if health and safety protocols are not being adhered to including unsafe work practices, ensuring that the Contractor rectifies such issues, including submission of incident reports, etc. Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information in a concise, professional manner, including facilitation of technical meetings and workshops with owners, contractors and other stakeholders.
Proficiency in technical writing including letters and daily reports.
Field based assignments will include weekday, night, and weekend work. Office based assignments will require a standard weekday business hours work schedule.
This role offers opportunities for significant overtime, with additional hours expected during busy project periods. Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable law and company policy.
NATM / SEM FIELD ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in relevant area of study required; Master's Degree a plus.
Professional Engineer (PE) License.10+ years of experience of NATM/SEM and/or Tunnel Construction Management work.
Have demonstrated competence in the design of sequential excavation initial support systems.
Must have proven work history as a Resident Engineer and/or as a Construction Manager with Tunneling Experience.
