Job Description
Project Engineer Ferlito Group LLC. Clinton Township, MI Full-Time | $55,000 - $65,000 annual starting salary We're looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our growing construction team for multiple commercial projects. This role is ideal for someone who is exceptionally well organized, has excellent communication skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, has keen attention to detail, and can build consensus among all stakeholders. The Project Engineer coordinates the initial planning for all construction projects prior to commencement. This role is responsible for coordinating all project planning and ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, budget, and constructability. Responsibilities Preconstruction Leadership
- Lead commercial projects through the complete preconstruction process from concept through turnover to commencement
- Coordinate project planning with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and internal teams
- Facilitate preconstruction meetings and maintain alignment among all stakeholders
- Ensure smooth transition from preconstruction into construction operations Estimating & Budgeting
- Assists in preparing conceptual and detailed cost estimates
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, alternate materials, and procurement strategies
- Provide timely cost feedback to support informed design decisions Bid Management & Procurement
- Assist the Estimator in developing bid packages and coordinate subcontractor outreach
- Track long-lead materials, procurement risks, and market conditions Communication & Collaboration
- Prepare polished estimate presentations, reports, and budget summaries
- Present project budgets and pricing updates to clients and leadership
- Support proposal development and client interviews
- Works with the Estimator and Project Manager to ensure accurate project handoff
- Maintain organized project documentation using Procore and internal systems Qualifications Required
- Minimum 5 years of commercial construction experience with preconstruction, estimating, or project management experience
- Commercial estimating experience
- Experience reviewing and negotiating subcontractor proposals
- Proficiency with the ProCore project management platform
- Thorough understanding of commercial construction means & methods
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and presentation abilities
