Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Building Engineer to ensure the optimal operation, maintenance, and safety of our facility's infrastructure. This vital role involves overseeing a wide range of building systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and facilities equipment. The Building Engineer will be responsible for maintaining a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for all occupants while providing exceptional service and technical expertise. Duties Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, HVAC units, plumbing, and mechanical equipment to ensure continuous operation. Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment using schematics, ohmmeters, hand tools, and other diagnostic devices. Conduct HVAC system repairs and maintenance to optimize climate control within the facility. Maintain building interior through carpentry, painting (including residential painting), and general facilities upkeep. Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automated building system management. Oversee plumbing system maintenance and repairs, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to track work orders, inventory parts, and document maintenance activities. Supervise junior technicians or contractors when necessary to complete complex repairs or installations. Ensure all facilities equipment maintenance aligns with safety regulations and operational standards. Provide excellent customer service by addressing occupant concerns promptly and professionally. Support maintenance of schematics and technical documentation for various building systems. Assist with welding tasks or other specialized repairs as needed to uphold building integrity. Qualifications Proven experience in facilities maintenance or building engineering roles with a strong mechanical background. Knowledge of electrical work including repair of electrical equipment and troubleshooting using schematics and ohmmeters. Hands-on experience with HVAC system repair, plumbing maintenance, carpentry, painting (including residential), and general facilities upkeep. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and electrical equipment repair techniques. Ability to read technical schematics and use hand tools effectively. Experience with CMMS software for managing work orders and inventory. Strong leadership skills with previous supervising or team coordination experience preferred. Excellent communication skills in English to collaborate effectively across teams and with vendors. Mechanical knowledge combined with experience in manufacturing or commercial/residential settings is highly desirable. Certification or experience in welding is a plus but not required.
