Senior Structural Engineer wanted in Troy, Michigan to use finite element analysis (FEA) to perform structural simulation and validation of BIW, chassis, frame and battery tray modeling, crash simulation, safety compliance, durability analysis and optimization. Coordinate crashworthiness studies for BEVs to ensure regulatory compliance with safety standards and improve structural performance under critical frontal impact load cases. Develop conceptual & cost-effective front-end architectures with optimized loadpath definitions with a focus on sub-system reduction/integration to offer higher packing space with a light-weight design. Independently manage execution of structural design and CAE analysis for
EREV/FCEV
frame-chassis programs, evaluate durability, fatigue, operational strength, and NVH performance to meet vehicle structural requirements. Lead structural optimization and integration efforts, including bolt design & placement, vehicle integration studies, & Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives to enhance cost efficiency, weight reduction, and manufacturability. Direct technical communication with cross-functional stakeholders, prepare detailed engineering reports and present simulation findings to support design decisions and key program milestones. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 24 months of related experience as a Structural Engineer, CAE Analyst or CAE Engineer. The related experience must include using finite element analysis (FEA) to perform structural simulation and validation of BIW, chassis, frame and battery tray modeling, crash simulation, safety compliance, durability analysis and optimization.
