Building Engineer Job Description We are seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance professional to join our team at a large commercial skyscraper in downtown Minneapolis. This is a mid-shift Operating Engineer position with the potential to advance into a full-time Assistant Chief Engineer role. We offer opportunities for career growth and advancement within our organization. Responsibilities Maintain and repair chillers, VAVs, air handlers, and related equipment. Service utility generators, UPS systems, and commercial kitchen equipment. Perform plumbing, lighting, and general mechanical maintenance. Maintain and troubleshoot pumps, cooling towers, and motors. Conduct seasonal work, including small engine maintenance and increased pump volume handling. Perform chemical treatment/testing and replace filters/belts. Execute preventive maintenance checks, lockout/tagout procedures, and support critical facility operations. Assist with general facilities upkeep and project work, including minimal painting. Essential Skills 5+ years of experience in Building or Facilities maintenance. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. 2+ years of experience in repairing HVAC, boilers, and troubleshooting equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Strong understanding of facilities maintenance, building maintenance, and repair work orders. Work Environment The position offers a 1st shift schedule with flexibility: 6 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Once hired, you will participate in a rotating on-call schedule with five other team members. The work environment is close-knit, with a strong emphasis on customer service as you will interact with multiple managers and high-level personnel in the main building during working hours. Attention to detail and excellent customer service skills are crucial. You will receive a badge and building access during your first week. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lauderdale, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
