Fixed-Term Contract, Summer placement Job Summary As GRAHAM continues to grow and develop, we're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Building Division as a Student Site Engineer. This is your chance to be part of a company shaping the future of the built environment and investing in yours. As a Student Site Engineer, you'll work at the heart of operations to make sure everything is built safely, accurately, and to the highest quality. Perfect for a recent graduate, this role provides the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical environment while benefiting from structured training, mentoring, and exposure to a variety of construction projects. Job Description You will:
Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to Undertake Surveying and setting out duties Check drawings and quantities Assist in scheduling of materials Plan the work and efficiently organise site operations in order to meet an agreed programme of deadlines Liaise with any consultants and sub-contracts engaged in the project as necessary Ensure quality records necessary to meet quality requirements are maintained Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise Arrange testing of materials Undertake the testing and calibration of instruments used Keep a Site Diary Fully interact with other members of the construction site team Liaise with other function/departmental managers Introduce improvements and innovation where appropriate to areas of responsibility Other duties as required by the Site Manager to facilitate construction of the works This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Student Site Engineer and the range of duties to be undertaken. It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals. Technical Competencies Essential Currently undertaking a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline. Demonstrate an understanding of construction management practices Demonstrate strong communication skills Full UK Driving License Strong IT Skills Desirable An appreciation of Health & Safety practices. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Previous work experience specifically in Construction industry. Able to demonstrate problem solving. Personal Specification Behavioural Competencies Commercial Awareness Develops an understanding of project budgets, programme constraints, client requirements, and the commercial drivers behind successful fit-out delivery. Leadership Skills Communicates effectively and demonstrates commitment to working as part of an integrated project team. Effective Communication Skills Able to adapt communication to different audiences and produce clear written documentation under supervision. Maintains positive relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and colleagues while promoting the GRAHAM brand. Customer Focus Recognises the importance of understanding client needs and contributing to the delivery of high-quality interior environments that exceed expectations. Influencing Builds positive working relationships with stakeholders and demonstrates an ability to collaborate effectively to achieve project objectives. Initiative Demonstrates a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving. Seeks opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and contribute positively to project success. Team Player Works collaboratively, supports colleagues, and contributes towards achieving project and business objectives. Demonstrates integrity, commitment, and professionalism. About You GRAHAM Routes to Becoming a Site Engineer Industrial Placements Our industrial placements can last from 3-12 months, dependent on your college/university curriculum. On your placement, you will be given the support, guidance, and experience which will lay the foundations for a great future in a Construction career.
