Job Description

Position Summary Stonecrest Engineering LLC is seeking an entry-level Structural Engineer / Structural Design Engineer to join our growing team in Lakewood, New Jersey. This is a full-time, in-person position for a motivated candidate looking to develop strong technical judgment through hands-on building design, calculation preparation, field exposure, and mentorship from experienced engineers. You will work on commercial, institutional, healthcare, and residential building projects involving steel, concrete, masonry, and wood systems. What You'll Do Assist with structural analysis, design, detailing, and documentation. Develop gravity and lateral loading under applicable building codes, including
IBC, ASCE
7, and local code requirements. Prepare calculations, design sketches, drawing markups, field reports, letters, and project documentation. Support challenging renovations, existing-structure evaluations, and new construction projects. Participate in site visits, field observations, measurements, and condition assessments with senior engineering staff. Support construction-phase services, including shop drawing review, RFI responses, and contractor/design-team coordination under senior engineer supervision. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field with a structural focus. Master's degree is a plus. 0-3 years of relevant experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Strong fundamentals in statics, mechanics of materials, structural analysis, and engineering problem solving. Strong written communication, attention to detail, and willingness to learn through direct feedback and collaboration. Ability to work full-time in person from our Lakewood, NJ office. Preferred Qualifications The following are helpful but not required: EIT certification, or on track to obtain. Exposure to building codes and design standards such as
IBC, ASCE
7, ACI, AISC, NDS, TMS, and/or NYC Building Code. Working knowledge of Revit and/or AutoCAD. Experience or exposure to RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, RAM Elements, ETABS, SAFE, Enercalc, ClearCalcs. Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 and Bluebeam. Optional flexible schedule:
four 9-hour days Monday through Thursday and a 4-hour Friday, with a remote Friday option after 3 months, subject to supervisor approval.
