Location:
Plainfield, New Jersey Job Description We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Site Civil Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This is an ideal opportunity for recent graduates or candidates with limited professional experience who are eager to gain hands-on experience supporting the planning, design, and implementation of civil site development projects. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers and gain exposure to a variety of residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and preparation of site layout plans, grading plans, utility plans, and erosion control for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. Perform basic engineering calculations related to drainage, earthwork, water and sewer systems, and stormwater management. Use software tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, or StormCAD for project design and modeling. Support senior engineers in preparing construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates. Conduct site visits and inspections to collect data and ensure project compliance with design and safety standards. Review and interpret survey data, geotechnical reports, and local permitting requirements. Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and local agencies during the permitting and approval process. Maintain project documentation and assist with quality control processes.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. 0-3 years of relevant experience in civil/site design (internships, co-op experience, or academic projects are considered). Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and basic knowledge of design codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, local DOT, municipal standards) is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. EIT certification (or in progress) is preferred but not required.
Pay Range:
