CIVIL ENGINEER I
•This is a Hiring Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program appointment. •This is a permanent appointment, and the Civil Service exam will be waived. The Onondaga County Department of Transportation is currently accepting applications for the position of:
CIVIL ENGINEER I
Location:
6230 East Molloy Road, East Syracuse, NY The work involves responsibility for performing civil engineering work in the investigation, design and construction of public works projects and for supervising and participating in land surveys. An employee in this class is responsible for directing and participating in survey and mapping projects and for performing assignments requiring the application of engineering skills and knowledge to civil engineering projects related to the design, construction, inspection or maintenance of public works.
Minimum Qualifications:
A. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a baccalaureate Degree in Civil Engineering and or Technology curriculum, Surveying Engineering and or Technology curriculum, Mechanical Engineering and or Technology curriculum, Environmental Engineering and or Technology curriculum; or,B. Four (4) years of paraprofessional or professional level work experience, or its part-time equivalent, in civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Surveying Engineering; or, C.
