Job Description

Overview Burkhardt is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Engineer to join our civil engineering and site development team. Project Engineers work alongside other team members and technical staff to research, plan, design, and prepare detailed construction drawings, assist with permit approval processes, and provide construction administration and project closeout support. Responsibilities Design site layouts based on client's direction, code requirements, and sound engineering principles. Design grading plans and perform earthwork analysis and optimization. Perform storm water management calculations and design detention and water quality systems to meet jurisdictional requirements. Design site utilities including storm sewer systems, sanitary sewer systems, and water service systems. Perform storm sewer system calculations and hydraulic and hydrologic modeling. Prepare conceptual design plans, schematic design plans, design development plans, and construction drawings including profiles, sections, and design details. Prepare storm water pollution prevention plans and operation and maintenance manuals. Conduct research and communicate with authorities having jurisdiction, including project introductions and pre-application meetings, code requirements and permit processes, and suitability of design approach. Review designs, drawings, calculations, and reports you have prepared and seal documents as needed. Ensure compliance with Burkhardt standards for quality, clarity and code compliance, and evaluate constructability and optimize value. Coordinate with utility providers for storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water, gas, electric, and telecommunications services. Attend project meetings with clients and coordinate with internal and external project team members. Research, prepare, and track permit submittals. Proactively identify project challenges, develop effective solutions, and communicate with project team leaders. Perform site visits and attend construction meetings.
Education / Skills
/ Experience Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field. A minimum of four (4) years of civil engineering experience. Professional Licensure (P.E. required). Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and Microsoft 365 products. Proficiency in HydroCAD or comparable storm water modeling programs. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Proactive and engaging with a strong attention to detail. $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
