Job Description
Title Civil Engineer Location Onsite role supporting multiple company development and construction locations Travel required between project sites and company facilities Location flexible based on company development footprint Overview This role is with a growing multi-site retail, fueling, and consumer services organization focused on new site development and operational excellence. The Civil Engineer serves as the internal subject matter expert for site development, leading civil engineering efforts from feasibility and due diligence through permitting, construction readiness, and field support. Must-Have Domains Civil Engineering & Land Development Site Infrastructure, Utilities & Stormwater Management Commercial Retail, Fueling, or Multi-Use Site Development Core Responsibilities Lead site development design activities including grading, drainage, utilities, access roads, paving, striping, and signage. Evaluate site feasibility, constructability, operational efficiency, and long-term performance for new and existing developments. Support permitting efforts by coordinating engineering documentation, jurisdictional reviews, and regulatory approvals. Provide engineering support during construction by reviewing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and resolving field design issues. Ensure compliance with ADA requirements, building codes, environmental regulations, and company site standards. Must-Have Experience Professional Engineer (PE) license required. 3-7 years of civil engineering, land development, or site development experience. Experience preparing, reviewing, or overseeing civil design plans through permitting and construction phases. Top 5 Must-Have Technical Skills Site Grading, Drainage, and Hydrology Design Stormwater Management Systems Utility Infrastructure Design (Water, Sewer, Electric, Gas) AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D Permitting, Regulatory Review, and Construction Document Interpretation Preferred Skills Experience supporting retail, fueling, convenience store, or multi-use commercial developments. Bluebeam Revu plan review and markup experience. Exposure to Revit or other BIM platforms. Knowledge of traffic circulation planning, vehicle stacking, and site accessibility design. Experience coordinating with DOT agencies, municipalities, and external engineering consultants. Work Environment Combination of office, project site, and field-based work. Regular travel between development locations and active construction sites. Ability to support urgent project needs outside standard business hours when required. Exposure to outdoor construction environments and varying weather conditions. Ability to perform site inspections, walk project areas, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
