Civil/Structural Forensic Engineer Engineering Inspection Services Boise, ID Job Details Full-time $120,000 - $160,000 a year 5 hours ago Qualifications Master's degree Analysis skills Bachelor's degree Automotive diagnostics Professional Engineer Full Job Description Job Summary The Forensic Engineer will be responsible for conducting in-depth investigations into incidents that result in insurance losses, including property damage, mechanical failures, and structural issues. The role involves analyzing physical evidence, reviewing technical data, preparing detailed reports, and providing expert testimony when required. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, engineering expertise, and experience working with insurance companies or legal professionals.
Duties Investigate Insurance Claims :
Conduct site inspections, gather evidence, and analyze materials related to property damage, structural failures, fires, floods, mechanical breakdowns, vehicle accidents, or other incidents.
Cause Analysis :
Apply engineering principles to determine the root cause of failures or damages, identifying contributing factors such as design flaws, material defects, environmental conditions, or human error.
Documentation :
Prepare comprehensive written reports that detail findings, conclusions, and recommendations for insurance adjusters, legal teams, and other stakeholders.
Collaboration :
Work closely with insurance adjusters, legal professionals, clients, and other experts to resolve claims and support litigation when necessary
Evidence Preservation :
Ensure proper documentation, handling, and preservation of evidence, including photographs, material samples, and physical artifacts.
Compliance :
Ensure that all investigations comply with relevant industry standards, local regulations, and legal requirements.
Education :
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Licensing :
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Skills :
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with investigative tools, diagnostic equipment, and engineering software. Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
