Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal Engineer to lead and grow our Land Development practice across New York & New Jersey . This leadership role is responsible for managing complex land development projects, mentoring engineering staff, fostering client relationships, and contributing to strategic business growth. The ideal engineer is a licensed Professional Engineer with extensive experience in site development, municipal permitting, and project delivery across public and private sector markets. Key Responsibilities Lead the planning, design, and execution of land development projects from concept through construction. Serve as Engineer of Record for a variety of commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and mixed-use developments. Manage multidisciplinary project teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted technical advisor. Support business development initiatives, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and identifying new market opportunities. Mentor, coach, and develop engineers, project managers, and technical staff. Oversee the preparation and review of: Site plans, Grading and drainage plans, Stormwater management systems, Utility design (water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer), Erosion and sediment control plans, Construction documents and technical specifications. Coordinate with architects, planners, surveyors, environmental consultants, and regulatory agencies. Manage permitting and approvals with local, county, and state agencies. Provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, zoning regulations, and environmental requirements. Participate in strategic planning for the continued growth of the Land Development practice. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New York / NJ License is a bonus. 12-20+ years of progressive civil engineering experience with a strong focus on land development. Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong knowledge of:
Site development design, Stormwater management, Utility infrastructure, Grading and earthwork, Local and state permitting processes Experience with municipal approvals throughout New York and the surrounding region. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication, leadership, and client management skills. Proven ability to mentor and develop engineering staff. Please note, this role requires the engineer to travel to Suffern, NY twice a week and then once a week to other locations for client meetings, the rest will be remote from home.
Pay:
$175,000.00 - $210,000.00 per year
