St. Louis, Missouri (Remote Availability for Eastern KS, All of MO or IL) •Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.•

Orbital Energy is a renewable energy engineering, construction, and consulting company. Helping clients build energy generation and storage systems since 2015, our team has combined decades of experience as engineers and consultants within the energy industry, bringing engineering expertise to the commercial, industrial, and utility sectors across the globe, all with the goal of expanding the distribution of affordable and efficient energy systems worldwide. Orbital Energy's growing portfolio and clients include commercial business owners, utility companies, universities, municipalities, and more. Many of our projects are pushing the envelope of technology and financing in the renewable energy industry. We are seeking an energetic and highly organized individual to join us as a Project Engineer (PJE). The PJE is a full-time position that will support several aspects of our business. This position offers challenge and opportunity for professional growth and advancement. As the PJE grows in their capabilities and qualifications, they will be offered greater responsibilities and ideally a higher position in the company. The PJE will work closely with the Operations, Engineering, and Sales staff and be expected to participate in several projects at the same time in different stages of their project cycles. During a typical day, the PJE may work on multiple projects in different project phases. The ability to adapt and change focus quickly and often is essential.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering (Approx. 80%) System layout and production estimates using Helioscope, Aurora, Solesca and the like Drafting solar PV designs/plan sets using CAD software Create detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) to facilitate product procurement Research and analyze new solar technologies, products, and industry best practices Reviewing drawings for accuracy from lower-level drafters Construction site field observation General office tasks Construction (Approx. 20%) Thorough site assessments of installation sites for solar systems with measurements, photographs, etc. Installation of mounting systems, modules, inverters, and accessories for solar PV systems Perform electrical wiring for DC and AC connections System commissioning, testing, and reporting Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with electrical codes Assist with maintenance and repair of solar systems
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of solar PV installation and/or PV design (Residential, Commercial, and Battery) NABCEP Associate Certification (or obtain within 3 months) 1+ years of experience with CAD programs, proficiency with AutoCAD Proficiency with Microsoft Office software suite No fear or working at heights or with electrical equipment OSHA-10 safety trained Expertise in National Electrical Code and International Fire, Residential, and Building Codes as they apply to solar PV In depth understanding of energy, power, and electrical system configurations and connections Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications Excellent organizational skills are a must Excellent attention to detail is a must Good verbal and written communications skills Good interpersonal skills and eagerness to work closely in a diverse team environment Passion to learn new things, through both self-study and structured settings Understanding of construction and engineering fundamentals (roof, snow and winds loads, etc.) Physical Abilities include: Lift 50+ pounds, ascend/descend ladders, digging, operating motor vehicles and driving, and performing work indoors and outdoors, in confined spaces, rooftops, and out in the elements. Ability to travel locally and regionally up to 20% for site visits and installations (some travel will require overnight stays for up to a week)
PREFERRED SKILLS
(BONUS) NABCEP Board Certification (PVIP, PVDS, PVIS, PVCMS, ESIP) Large Commercial, Industrial, Utility Scale PV Installation and/or design experience Journeyman or Masters Electrical Certification and/or license Certificate or associate's degree from accredited institution in a related field of study High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office software suite, particularly Excel with
VBA PARTICULARS
Basis of employment: Full-Time, average 40 hours per week, sometimes more as required, salary pay The Candidate is responsible for, and/or furnishing, their own: Smartphone with the ability to take pictures, access email, text messages, etc. Transportation to/from our office and job sites as necessary; if an owned automobile, must have a minimum insurance of $100,000 in liability coverage in addition to statutory requirements
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
