Job Description

Project Engineer RX3 Communications, Inc.

• Reno, Nevada (hybrid) About RX3 RX3 Communications is a federal design-build contractor. We deliver fire alarm, mass notification, electrical and telecommunications systems for the Navy, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Defense Logistics Agency and other federal agencies. We are a small team, HUBZone-certified and ISO 9001-certified, with more than 16 years of federal work. We manage design and construction through trusted subcontractors, so our people spend their time running projects. We also have a growing Zoom partner business. The role The Project Engineer keeps our projects moving. You track every open item, follow up until it is closed, and support the Project Manager with the coordination and paperwork that federal construction demands. Outbound phone calls are a core part of this job, not an occasional task. You will call subcontractors, suppliers and customers every week, including people who don't know us yet. This is a hybrid position based in our Reno, Nevada office, in the office two to three days a week. You report to the Project Manager. What you'll do Own the open-items list on each project: requests for information, submittals, Government comments and subcontractor questions. Chase each one until it is closed, and flag anything stuck before it becomes a problem. Keep submittal registers, request-for-information logs and project files current, so anyone can pick up a project and know where it stands. Prepare routine correspondence with Government representatives and subcontractors under the Project Manager's direction. Support monthly schedule updates, progress invoices and closeout documents using RX3's AI-assisted project tools. Find and qualify subcontractors and suppliers by phone, set up coordination meetings, and track the action items that come out of them. Route subcontracts and change paperwork for signature and keep subcontract files complete. Coordinate telecommunications circuit orders and provisioning with carriers and Government customers. Make outbound calls for our Zoom partner business: follow-ups, renewals and qualifying new leads. Attend preconstruction, progress and inspection meetings in person or online, and write and send the minutes. What you bring Two or more years as a project engineer, project coordinator or assistant project manager in construction. Working knowledge of drawings, specifications, submittals, requests for information and schedules. You must be very comfortable making outbound phone calls, including cold calls, every week. You would rather make the call than send a third email.

You work on your own:

you set your own follow-up rhythm, close loops without being reminded, and raise problems early. Clear, concise writing for emails and meeting notes. Strong Microsoft 365 skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and willingness to work in AI-assisted tools. You live within commuting distance of Reno and can be in the office two to three days a week. We give strong preference to candidates who live in a HUBZone; you can check your address on the SBA HUBZone map at maps.certify.sba.gov/hubzone/map. A valid driver's license, and the ability to pass a background check for access to military bases and federal sites. Nice to have Experience on Navy or Army Corps of Engineers construction contracts. Background in fire alarm, mass notification, electrical or telecommunications work. A degree in construction management, engineering or a related field. Experience with Primavera P6 or another scheduling tool. Experience with carrier circuit provisioning or selling and supporting communications services. Experience working for a HUBZone or other small business federal contractor. Working conditions Most of the work happens at a desk, in the Reno office or at home. Expect occasional travel to project sites in California, Nevada and Arizona for meetings and inspections. Site visits mean walking active construction areas in required safety gear. Pay and how to apply $75,000 to $80,000 per year, based on experience, plus benefits. To apply, send your resume with a short note about a time you kept a project on track by following up when others didn't. RX3 Communications is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status or any other protected status.

Pay:

$75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year Application Question(s): Do you reside in an SBA-Certified Hubzone? Note that strong preference will be given to candidates demonstrating Hubzone residency.
