Project Manager Bridge Engineer Job Description The Project Manager Bridge Engineer will lead and deliver complex bridge and structural engineering projects for local, county, and state agencies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Based primarily in the Warrington office, this role manages multiple PENNDOT and NJDOT assignments on turnpike and local bridges, overseeing design, analysis, inspection, permitting, and construction support. The position combines hands-on technical work with project management, client relationship development, and leadership responsibilities within a growing municipal engineering practice. Responsibilities Design and analyze existing and proposed structures, including bridges, culverts, buildings, and related infrastructure to meet safety, performance, and regulatory requirements. Secure, plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of local, county, and state bridge projects, including obtaining necessary permits and coordinating with agencies. Perform and oversee bridge inspection activities, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with applicable standards. Draft and prepare clear, effective, and efficient project proposals that reflect scope, schedule, and budget requirements. Provide construction support services, including contract administration, project coordination, permitting assistance, and budget management throughout the project lifecycle. Monitor and manage project financials and reporting, maintaining strict compliance with project budgets and profitability targets. Participate in local civic and professional organizations, such as Chambers of Commerce and engineering societies, to represent and promote the firm within the community. Assist senior leadership in managing and growing the corporate structural engineering discipline, contributing to strategic planning and service expansion. Support senior leadership with retention and development of client relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business. Transition into a leadership role that includes developing, managing, and mentoring a team of Structural Engineers and Structural Designers, with responsibility for financial objectives such as utilization, profit, and overhead. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices to deliver high-quality bridge and transportation projects. Stay current with industry standards, DOT requirements, and structural design software tools, and apply them to improve project outcomes. Essential Skills Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania is preferred. 10+ years of relevant experience in bridge engineering, structural engineering, or closely related civil engineering fields. Proven experience working with local and state agencies, particularly in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Prior experience working on PENNDOT or Turnpike projects, including bridge and roadway assignments, is highly preferred. Progressive experience working directly with clients and managing all aspects of bridge projects from concept through construction. Experience in bridge design, roadway design, and structural design for transportation infrastructure. Knowledge of structural design software, including PENNDOT programs and related analysis tools. Ability to manage project budgets, financial reporting, and utilization metrics. Demonstrated capability to lead projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and meet schedule and quality objectives. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil and transportation design is preferred. Familiarity with general AutoCAD drafting for civil and structural engineering applications. Experience with highway and transportation projects, including turnpike and DOT work. Experience in culvert design and analysis for municipal and transportation infrastructure. Strong written and verbal communication skills for proposal preparation, client interaction, and team coordination. Ability to mentor and develop Structural Engineers and Structural Designers within a growing practice. Active or potential involvement in professional organizations such as ASCE and local Chambers of Commerce. Comfort working in a multi-office environment with teams located in different geographic locations. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple concurrent projects. Work Environment The role is based in a large office in Warrington, Pennsylvania, where each team member has an individual office in a well-established facility. The firm also operates newer and smaller offices in Malvern and Easton, providing opportunities to collaborate across locations. The organization is a mid-sized municipal engineering firm with approximately 90 staff members distributed among multiple offices, actively bidding and winning projects against larger regional and national competitors. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warrington, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $52.88/hr.
