DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position serves as an advanced engineering role within the Dams and Waterways Section of the Waterways and Wetlands Program. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform complex and specialized engineering work in the fields of hydrology and hydraulics to support the implementation of statewide waterway management and floodplain management programs. These programs are mandated under the Dam Safety and Encroachments Act, the Clean Streams Law, and the Flood Plain Management Act. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring the safety, stability, and environmental compliance of waterway and floodplain activities across the Commonwealth. A secondary but equally important function of this position involves conducting independent and advanced hydrologic and hydraulic engineering analyses required for statewide programs related to NPDES Stormwater Construction Permitting, Erosion and Sedimentation Control, and Post-Construction Stormwater Management. These responsibilities are mandated under the Clean Streams Law and the associated regulatory frameworks, including Chapter 102 (Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management) and Chapter 93 (Water Quality Standards). Your expertise will support the review, evaluation, and approval of complex stormwater and erosion control plans to ensure compliance with environmental standards and the protection of Pennsylvania's water resources. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position may require travel as needed.
Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $75,658.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Special Requirements:
This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
