ABOUT THE POSITION
Senior Civil Highway Engineer - Project Manager | Hybrid | Wethersfield, CT VHB's Wethersfield office is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer/Project Manager who is passionate about managing innovative transportation engineering projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and growing team, and to tackle many of CT's local, state and federally funded municipal and state roadway, streetscape, bike facility, and safety, projects. Experience working with state and local transportation agencies, as well as an understanding of local, CT, and federal funding requirements is highly desired.

- 2024 ACEC Inaugural (DEI) Commitment Award Responsibilities VHB is seeking an individual to lead tasks and manage transportation projects within a team of highly motivated engineers.
This may include:
- Leading a team of engineers to deliver multi-disciplinary transportation engineering projects
- Supporting the production of design plans, calculations, specifications, and permitting documents (including but not limited to highway/roadway design, complete street design, safety improvements, grading and drainage design, and utility coordination and relocations)
- Being a trusted advisor to the client, acting as the main point of contact for the client, design team, contractor, subconsultants, and stakeholders.
- Providing technical QA/QC
- Overseeing construction support services (review of submittals and RFIs)
- Assisting with business development activities and proposal writing
- Assisting with scheduling and management of project financials Additional Information
Help for Additional Information. Opens a new window. Skills and Attributes - Knowledge of the policies, procedures and design standards of state and local transportation agencies (CTDOT)
- Knowledge of industry-standard engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil3D, Bentley CONNECT Suite , etc)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage a multidisciplinary team and multiple deadlines
- Ability to lead and coordinate public outreach tasks
- Team oriented and motivated to lead/mentor junior staff
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented Qualifications
- 11-15 years of civil transportation design engineering experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required
- Master's degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)
- PE license required The full-time annual base salary range for this position, located in Connecticut, is $130,000 to $190,000.
The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program. Annual base salary is one component of VHB's Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
