Job Description
Senior Structural Engineer - $150K to $180K Summary Looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to lead complex structural building projects out of Raleigh, Greensboro, or Charlotte, NC, or Norfolk, VA. You'll step in as project manager or lead engineer on a team with deep roots in the Southeast, guiding design direction, mentoring junior engineers, and working closely with architects to turn ambitious concepts into safe, buildable structures. Hybrid schedule. Key responsibilities Lead design efforts for structural systems analysis, developing designs, specifications, and calculations to code Perform site assessments and produce detailed analysis and technical reports Partner directly with clients to gather requirements and communicate technical information clearly Provide in process design reviews of structural systems, calculations, specifications, and correspondence Implement quality control processes to meet internal, industry, and client standards Provide technical training and mentoring, and help resolve field issues with minimal senior support Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions and support project interviews and presentations Stay current on industry trends and contribute to research and innovation efforts Qualifications 7+ years of experience in building design consulting, 12+ preferred Mastery of structural design techniques across steel, concrete, wood, and masonry systems Strong grasp of mechanics, materials, and load path principles Proven ability to lead projects and perform final quality control review in area of expertise Track record of client relationship development and ability to help sell work Strong training, mentoring, and leadership skills Requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (Master's in Structural Engineering preferred) Professional Engineer (PE) license required Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Based out of or commutable to Raleigh, Greensboro, or Charlotte, NC, or Norfolk, VA Able to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays Strong written and verbal communication skills Not eligible for visa sponsorship Compensation and benefits $150K to $180K base, depending on experience Employee ownership / stock ownership options Health, dental, vision, and life insurance starting day one Generous PTO, paid holidays, and a flexible, hybrid schedule Tuition reimbursement assistance Retirement savings plan Why join us This is a 100% employee-owned engineering firm with deep roots in the Southeast and an award winning reputation for creative, buildable structural solutions.
