Senior Structural Engineer Location Brea, CA (Hybrid after onboarding) About the Firm This nationally respected architecture and engineering practice is known for delivering complex, large-scale industrial and commercial manufacturing facilities across the United States. With a strong reputation for technical rigor, design precision, and collaborative project delivery, the firm partners closely with owners, contractors, and consultants to execute high-performance facilities valued at $145M and above. The culture emphasizes autonomy, accountability, and technical excellence, offering engineers the opportunity to take true ownership of projects from concept through construction. Position Summary They are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with 10-15+ years of experience to join their Brea, California office. This role is highly technical and project-focused , ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives on hands-on design leadership rather than personnel management. One will lead the execution of industrial and commercial-manufacturing structural projects, overseeing structural systems from initial design through final delivery. While this role does not include direct reports, one will mentor junior engineers and drafters on a project-by-project basis and serve as a trusted technical resource for complex design decisions. Key Responsibilities Lead and execute structural engineering design for industrial and commercial-manufacturing facilities Perform detailed structural calculations and system design for steel and concrete structures Take full ownership of end-to-end structural design and coordination Guide junior engineers and drafters through design intent, detailing, and constructability reviews Spend approximately 50-70% of time on hands-on structural design and calculations Participate in coordination meetings, respond to RFIs, and interface directly with clients and project teams Conduct limited site visits and field work (approximately 10% ) Review and coordinate structural drawings produced in AutoCAD or Revit Utilize Bluebeam extensively for markups, coordination, and document review Serve as a go-to engineer for technical problem-solving and decision-making Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited university 10+ years of professional structural engineering experience Strong background in industrial and commercial-manufacturing projects Expertise in structural analysis and design software, including:
RAM RISA ENERCALC
Excel and/or Mathcad Proven experience designing steel and concrete structural systems Strong drawing review, coordination, and documentation skills Ability to manage projects independently and interface directly with clients and owners Preferred Qualifications Experience producing and coordinating construction documents across all project phases Experience managing small to mid-sized projects Familiarity with multidisciplinary coordination in architectural practice Work Environment & Culture Primarily office-based during the first three months , with eligibility for hybrid work (up to two remote days per week) thereafter based on performance Highly autonomous environment with macro-level management , allowing engineers to own their work and decisions Opportunity to play a key role in expanding West Coast operations and contributing to long-term growth Exposure to large-scale industrial projects valued at $145M+ Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brea, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $58.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
