Job Description Join the Site Engineering team at Nuclear Power Training Unit Charleston (NPTU-C) and take on challenging, high impact work at the intersection of waterfront operations and critical site infrastructure. Hone your craft with a team of skilled professionals supporting the US Navy in the areas of site operations, infrastructure projects, and major construction projects. As a Mechanical/Structural Engineer you will work to keep our site-and our vessels-safe, connected, and mission-ready.

Specific Responsibilities include:

Cognizant engineer for piers, mooring, and other waterfront structures that support permanently moored vessels; making sure they're safe, robust, and ready for extreme conditions Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver infrastructure upgrades, providing mechanical and civil/structural insight from concept through construction Provide in-service engineering support for civil systems (water, sanitary, storm water, etc.) Assess lifting and handling operations and surface weight bearing capacity for equipment, vehicles, and staged loads; recommend reinforcements or operational limits Perform structural load calculations for destructive weather and seismic events, ensuring our facilities and equipment can withstand environmental factors Perform technical and Quality Assurance reviews for mechanical disciplines and deliverables (design reviews, construction submittal reviews, field surveys, and closeout inspections) to support various SPPE-led infrastructure and major construction projects Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently an Intermediate Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
