Department Public Works Administration Location COA Service Center Position Type FT Employee Salary $65,495.04 - $118,453.92 a year Requisition 10012026 Open Date 10/01/2026 Close Date 10/30/2026 Description Civil Engineer I, II, or Senior Civil Engineer The City of Alcoa Development Services Department is seeking a Civil Engineer to help plan, design, and deliver infrastructure projects that serve our community. Depending on qualifications and experience, the selected candidate may be hired as a Civil Engineer I, Civil Engineer II, or Senior Civil Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the planning, design, and construction of City infrastructure projects, including streets, drainage, stormwater, parks and other facilities.. Prepare or review engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, bid documents and technical reports. Visit project sites, review construction work, and help address issues that arise in the field. Coordinate with City departments, consultants, contractors, developers, regulatory agencies, and the public. Review and approve development site plans and proposed improvements for compliance with applicable standards and requirements. Help track project schedules, budgets, contracts, and progress from design through construction. Responsibilities will vary based on the level at which the candidate is hired, with experienced engineers taking a lead role in project management, technical review, and staff guidance Minimum Qualifications by

Civil Engineer I:
Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering. The ability to obtain an Engineer Intern Certificate issued by the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners. Entry-level candidates may qualify.
Civil Engineer II:
Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering and at least five years of progressive municipal design and construction experience, or a combination of experience and supervisory responsibilities. A Tennessee Professional Engineer license, or the ability to obtain one within one year of employment, is required.
Senior Civil Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering and at least eight years of progressive municipal design and construction experience, or a combination of experience and supervisory responsibilities. A Tennessee Professional Engineer license, or the ability to obtain one within one year of employment, is required. Why Join Us?
