A Geotechnical Engineer specializes in understanding and assessing the physical, mechanical and chemical properties of earth materials. They study the properties of these materials to assess their suitability for construction projects and to design foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and other structures to ensure stability and safety. Investigates geological conditions, conducts tests on rock and soil, and provides recommendations to mitigate risks, ensuring the integrity and longevity of infrastructure projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform design calculations following industry guidelines and codes (e.g., ACI, USACE, USBR, etc.); Perform CQA for heavy civil construction projects; Earthquake engineering; Conduct geotechnical field investigations; Dam and levee risk evaluations; Develop construction documents; and Write and review engineering reports. Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client, project, office, and other business locations, as needed. Education and Licensure Bachelor's degree in civil and/or environmental engineering or related field. (required) Advanced degree the same. (preferred) Skills, Experience and Qualifications At least 2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) Prior internship or work experience in engineering consulting. (preferred) Experience with structural software such as AutoCAD, SAP2000, STAAD, ANSYS, etc. (preferred) Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Slope/W, FLAC, and PLAXIS. (preferred) Sound understanding of structural and soil mechanics. (essential) Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
