Job Description

The Public Works Department serves as the backbone of our community, managing essential water, wastewater, drainage, and transportation systems with a steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship. Within this framework, the Administration & Engineering Division provides the strategic direction and technical oversight necessary to keep the city running. While Administration handles overarching operational support, the Engineering team serves as the primary technical authority for the city's infrastructure, balancing the rigorous oversight of private development with the successful installation and maintenance of critical municipal infrastructure.
Qualifications:
What were looking for: Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering Construction, Engineering and Management. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Designation as a TFMA Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) is preferred, but not required. 4-7+ years of experience in civil engineering required. Municipal or governmental experience is preferred. Experience with grant-funded project management desired. Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations, permitting, and public works standards. Exhibit a strong sense of urgency and proactive approach to meet project deadlines with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously . Search for, obtain, and review plats, record drawings, easements and other relevant historical documents. Experience in roadway design, stormwater management, development, utilities, drainage systems, and/or capital improvement projects. Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS applications). Project management experience, including contractor coordination. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present technical information to elected officials, stakeholders, and the public. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Commitment to safety, sustainability, and community service. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Salary is dependent on qualifications.
