Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Project Engineer at our modular equipment manufacturing company, you will play a vital role in overseeing the successful execution of projects from conception to completion. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deliver modular equipment solutions that meet customer requirements, industry standards, and project objectives. Your technical expertise, project management skills, and commitment to excellence will drive the efficient and effective delivery of high-quality modular equipment solutions.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management:
Lead project planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. Develop project scopes, timelines, and budgets, and monitor progress against established milestones.
Design and Development:
Work closely with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to translate customer requirements into innovative and practical modular equipment designs. Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the design and development process, ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with internal teams, including design, engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance, to coordinate project activities and ensure seamless execution. Communicate project status, milestones, and risks to stakeholders regularly.
Risk Management:
Identify potential project risks, issues, and challenges, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables. Proactively address technical and operational challenges to ensure project success.
Quality Assurance:
Implement rigorous quality control measures to verify the integrity, functionality, and safety of modular equipment solutions. Conduct thorough testing, inspection, and validation activities to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
Customer Relations:
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle. Engage with customers to understand their requirements, address inquiries, and provide updates on project progress. Foster positive relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate project documentation, including design specifications, drawings, change orders, and project reports. Generate progress reports, status updates, and post-project evaluations to assess project performance and identify areas for improvement. Examples of discipline-specific scope of work that may be required: Sizing and selection of mechanical equipment such as compressors, pumps, line sizing, basic instrumentation, etc. and ensuring timely completion of required deliverables. Review customer specifications and make recommendations for modifications and changes to job specific deliverables. Check engineering drawings / shop details for conformance to standards and practices. Assist with maintaining all design guides, design standards, and fabrication standards.
JOB SKILLS
Excellent computer skills, particularly in Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The ability to effectively manage time and to effectively handle multiple conflicting tasks. Experienced with ASME, ANSI, NEC, NFPA, and other relevant codes.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from an accredited four-year engineering program. Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing and comprehensive documentation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience (3+ years) in project engineering or related roles within the manufacturing industry, with a focus on modular equipment. Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and execute complex projects for a minimum of 3 years as a lead engineer or project engineer/manager. Industrial refrigeration/process or gas compression experience required. Datacenter experience or power industry experience with gas turbines is a plus. Experience in design and specification of refrigeration systems is highly desirable. Strong working knowledge of process design and simulation, equipment sizing and selection. Experience in fabrication, process controls, ASME and international codes are required. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality management systems. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools. Working knowledge of HYSYS or other process simulators & P&ID development Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills Problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze issues and develop effective solutions. Availability to travel to both domestic and international job sites. Ability to work in field construction locations, including climbing ladders, is required.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
PE/EIT registration is desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position is at least 80 % to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
