- Pay and level will be determined by education/skills/experience
- The Project Engineer ensures the engineering and design phases are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project requirements.
- Develop engineering design standards/guidelines/specifications for each system(s)/components in accordance with Vistra standards and Fleet SME guidance.
- Create/maintain a repository for all project designs and fleet standards - including incorporating lessons learned from previous projects
- Coordination to ensure engineering and equipment standards are accurately incorporated into each project design and Contract Strategy
- Complete a hazard analysis of all projects during pre-construction phase
- Utilize Vistra Playbook during development and construction of projects
- Review of 10%, 30%, 60%, IFC designs for construction Projects issued by EPC contractor
- Support major equipment selection during early phase engineering
- Develop Engineering SOW's & Owners Engineering SOW's
- Contributes to economic justification/analysis for projects Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
- Merit is determined by demonstrated skills and relevant years of experience.
- BS or greater in an Engineering discipline. Civil Engineering background preferred.
- 5+ years relevant experience (power generation operations, maintenance, engineering)
- Required experience in major Power Plant Electrical System Design
- Effective communication of complex concepts
- Knowledgeable of applicable codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices; budgeting, & project management
- Demonstrates and applies knowledge of current and pending regulatory, code and general industry issues to resolve Vistra's interests.
- Proficient with business/technical evaluation processes.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, creative problem solving and team building
- High level of expertise in MS Office suite
- Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
- Able to execute projects/strategies with minimal oversight. Key Metrics
- Capture current engineering design standards, identify gaps and update standards to improve the quality of future projects
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with key project stakeholders
- Successful delivery of projects to Operations within established financial and production related performance targets
- Maintain effective working relationships.
