(KCA) has an opening in our Plano, TX office for a Structural Engineer. As a Structures Engineer, you will be responsible for performing structural analysis, design, and detailing for bridges, retaining walls, and other transportation-related structures. You'll work under the guidance of senior structural engineers while also mentoring junior staff, ensuring quality and accuracy across all phases of design.
Responsibilities:
Preparing design calculations, construction plans, and technical reports while coordinating with roadway, geotechnical, and hydraulic disciplines. Designing and producing plans for transportation-related projects from preliminary to final design including specifications, quantities, cost estimates, and final bid packages, and coordinating with the design team to ensure project completion within defined schedule, budget, and quality. Assist in reviewing shop drawings, performing field inspections, and resolving design issues during construction. Work at this level requires the candidate to be a proactive, self-starter that is willing to work with a team of engineers on projects throughout the State of Texas. This role requires a solid understanding of applicable AASHTO codes and structural analysis software, with increasing responsibility for project components and quality control.
Required Skills:
Competent knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues. Knowledge of structural design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete for both superstructure and substructure components. Knowledge of TXDOT design standards, TXDOT plans preparation procedures, and geometric understanding. Familiarity with practices and procedures for structural detailing. Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment. Experience in using structural analysis and design software - Open Bridge Modeler experience is a plus. Experience with MicroStation. Ability to write, speak, and communicate clearly.
Qualifications:
