  • Career advancement opportunities Job Summary The Project Engineer II at Colossal Transport independently manages engineering aspects of transportation projects, including advanced drawing development, clearance analysis, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
This role ensures technical accuracy, compliance and successful project execution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings including tie-down, weld strength, and multi-view layouts
  • Perform advanced rail clearance analysis and resolve clearance issues
  • Own engineering scope including timelines, accuracy, and deliverables
  • Select appropriate railcars and validate weight distribution and limitations
  • Coordinate with railroad clearance departments and inspectors
  • Ensure compliance with AAR regulations and customer-specific requirements
  • Lead securement planning and oversee field execution
  • Support route analysis, rail siding identification, and feasibility
  • Monitor engineering-related costs and support vendor coordination
  • Communicate project risks, issues, and solutions to leadership
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records
  • Other duties as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The attributes listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • 2+ years of experience in engineering, logistics, or transportation
  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drafting software
  • Experience with rail or heavy haul transportation preferred
  • Work experience in engineering, transportation, logistics or related field
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
  • High attention to detail and accountability
  • Ability to work independently
  • Convey goals and objectives clearly and in compelling manner; listen effectively, and clarify information Education Bachelor's degree preferred in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
