Job Description
The Shaw Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to lead design for major industrial and energy projects across North America. In this role, you will own civil and structural engineering deliverables from concept through construction, including calculations, drawings, and specifications for steel, concrete, foundations, and modular structures. You will collaborate closely with fabrication shops, field construction teams, and project managers to ensure safe, constructible, and cost-effective solutions that meet stringent client and regulatory requirements. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex capital projects in a safety-first, team-oriented environment while developing deep technical expertise and mentoring junior staff. Responsibilities Lead civil/structural design for industrial, energy, and petrochemical projects from concept through construction Prepare and review calculations, plans, specifications, and design reports to meet codes and client standards Provide technical guidance, checking, and mentoring for junior engineers and designers Coordinate closely with fabrication, construction, and field teams to ensure constructible, cost-effective designs Support project managers with scope, estimates, schedules, and change management Perform structural analysis for steel, concrete, foundations, and modules using engineering software Review vendor and shop drawings and resolve technical RFIs during fabrication and construction Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements on all assigned projects Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination sessions Contribute to continuous improvement of standards, tools, and engineering best practices Required Skills Structural analysis and design of steel and concrete structures Foundation design for industrial equipment and modules Civil/site design for industrial facilities Design software (e.g., STAAD, RISA, SAP2000, ETABS, or similar) Auto CAD and/or BIM tools (e.g., Revit, Tekla) Application of building and structural codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI) Preparation of engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications Construction and fabrication support, including RFI resolution Project coordination in multidisciplinary industrial projects Safety and quality compliance in industrial environments
