  • Level 4 located in Promontory, UT, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.
The candidate will coordinate with the program and other engineers to meet the programs deadlines. This position is responsible for aiding the development and production of metal structures, joints and seals for rocket motor cases and associated hardware. Candidate will contribute to both major design and analytical efforts based on knowledge and experience This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Your Role and Impact:
Create engineering drawings and specifications to define design for hardware fabrication, write test plans, support fabrication efforts, oversee testing, analyze test data and revise designs based on results. Perform 2D and 3D structural analysis for the design of flight hardware and test articles using Siemens NX CAD software and ANSYS Provide DE production support including MRB resolution Mentor engineers on the design process, drawing/specification release, and MRB system Maintain group training and standards on the design process for the Metals/Structures team Other duties as assigned If this job description reads like it was written specifically for you, consider joining our team!
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or associated discipline with 8 years of solid rocket motor design and manufacturing experience
  • OR•Master's degree with 6 years of professional experience•OR•PhD with 4 years of professional experience.
Strong understanding of NG Design & Analysis role, responsibility, and Propulsion system organization Strong understanding of NG drawing standards and GD&T including NX Experience with drawing release, test report writing, MRB dispositions, and technical report writing Strong problem-solving skills and a self-starter Ability to communicate technical content through email, phone, in-person and group settings Ability to collaborate and mentor team members
Preferred Qualifications:
MRB DE signature for the NASA program Master's degree in mechanical engineering or associated discipline Strong understanding of solid rocket motor system design, development, and manufacturing. Extensive background knowledge of the NASA program and history of the metal case including joints and seals design Understanding of forging and machining practices of metal components Structures design experience with metallic materials
Primary Level Salary Range:
$122,800.00
  • $184,200.
00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
