Chesapeake, Virginia, United States Talascend is currently seeking a Civil Site Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Chesapeake, Virginia. Overview The Staff Civil Site Engineer will work on project teams to create world class site designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across various projects including pipelines, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, municipal, commercial, and government facilities. The role involves working throughout the design and construction process, adapting civil plans according to budget constraints, design factors, locality requirements, and client needs. Responsibilities Perform and assist in civil design and calculations for projects from conceptual phase through design completion
Modify and review drawings for a variety of projects
Design civil components to meet project needs and requirements set by project managers, incorporating client, local, state, and federal regulations, including site demolition, erosion and sediment control, grading, drainage, stormwater management, site layout, sanitary sewer, domestic and firewater layout and design, utility profiles
Apply knowledge of site civil engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the industry
Research and compile project-related data, studies, and reports; write specifications; prepare client presentations and contract documentation
Perform field inspections, measurements, and calculations
Mentor younger staff members
Adhere to all company policies and standards Qualifications Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program, plus 3+ years of civil engineering experience; consulting experience preferred
Alternatively, a Bachelor degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program, successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 3+ years of civil engineering experience; consulting experience preferred
Master degree in Civil Engineering with 2+ years of civil engineering experience; consulting experience preferred
Strong knowledge of standard civil engineering techniques and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work methodically and analytically in problem-solving environments, demonstrating critical thinking skills
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD, and hydraulic/hydrologic analysis programs
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, organization, and problem-solving skills
