- 120,000 per year, DOE Job Overview Pivotal Construction is seeking a driven, detail-oriented Project Engineer with 3-5 years of commercial tenant improvement (TI) construction experience to join our growing team.
This role will support the successful delivery of commercial TI projects from preconstruction through closeout, working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, consultants, and clients. The ideal candidate has experience working in fast-paced commercial environments and understands the unique coordination, scheduling, and quality requirements that come with tenant improvement projects. Restaurant construction experience is strongly preferred , particularly experience with restaurant build-outs, renovations, or multi-location rollouts. Learn more at www.pivotal-gc.com Key Responsibilities Support the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial tenant improvement projects from preconstruction through closeout Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination and administration Manage and track RFIs, submittals, ASIs, change orders, and other project documentation Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to identify potential conflicts or coordination issues Coordinate with subcontractors, architects, consultants, vendors, and design teams Assist with project budgets, cost tracking, procurement, and subcontractor buyout Support project scheduling and help track progress against milestones Participate in jobsite walks and field coordination meetings Help identify and resolve construction issues in a timely and effective manner Maintain accurate project logs, documentation, meeting minutes, and reporting Assist with material procurement and long-lead item tracking Support project closeout, including punch lists, warranties, O&M documentation, and final project documentation Communicate effectively with internal and external project stakeholders to keep projects moving forward Qualifications 3-5 years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role in commercial construction Experience with tenant improvement (TI) construction is required Restaurant construction experience strongly preferred Experience with restaurant build-outs, renovations, or multi-location projects is a plus Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, sequencing, and project coordination Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and other construction drawings Strong understanding of RFIs, submittals, change orders, project documentation, and construction administration Experience with Procore and Bluebeam Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction scheduling/project management tools Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred Willingness to travel to project sites as needed What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who: Takes ownership and follows through Is highly organized and detail-oriented Communicates clearly with both field and office teams Can anticipate issues and help find solutions before they impact the project Is comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment Has a strong understanding of commercial TI construction Enjoys working collaboratively and wants to grow with a company Brings a positive, team-oriented attitude and a strong work ethic
