HLA Engineering and Land Surveying, Inc. We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our growing engineering team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience working on a variety of municipal infrastructure, transportation, land development, utility, stormwater, and public works projects. Working alongside experienced Professional Engineers, you will contribute to meaningful projects while developing the technical and professional skills necessary for long-term career growth.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and technical documents. Support the design and development of civil engineering projects including site development, grading, stormwater management, utilities, transportation, and public infrastructure improvements. Perform engineering calculations, technical analysis, and data evaluation. Assist with project funding applications and supporting documentation. Conduct field investigations, site visits, construction observation, and data collection as needed. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, surveyors, clients, and regulatory agencies. Support permit applications and agency review processes. Maintain organized project files and documentation. Follow established company procedures, quality control standards, and project delivery practices. Participate in professional development opportunities and pursue licensure goals. Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with or knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn from experienced engineering professionals. Ability to work both in the office and in the field as project needs require. Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation for this position ranges from $30.00 to $40.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated capabilities. New college graduates who possess a current Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and meet the qualifications and responsibilities of the position may be eligible for a starting wage of $38.60 per hour.
