[Salary Range] Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead product development and manufacturing programs from initial quoting through successful production launch. This role focuses on plastics injection molding, mold design, tooling development, and medical device component manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in injection molding, hands-on experience with mold design and manufacturing processes, and the ability to manage multiple engineering projects, suppliers, budgets, and timelines. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically driven engineer who enjoys working cross-functionally to bring complex products from concept to production. Key Responsibilities Lead engineering projects from initial quoting and product development through tooling, process validation, and production launch. Review product designs for manufacturability (DFM), including draft angles, side actions, shutoffs, tolerances, and tooling requirements. Evaluate mold designs, tooling concepts, and mold construction methods to ensure manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Support the development and optimization of thermoplastic, thermoset, and silicone molding processes. Apply Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles throughout product and process development. Develop and execute Design of Experiments (DOE), capability studies, and process improvement initiatives. Evaluate tooling strategies using steel-safe and tolerance-safe design concepts. Coordinate automation solutions, including press robots, automated assembly systems, and related manufacturing equipment. Support secondary manufacturing operations such as deflashing, assembly, testing, and decorating. Collaborate with mold makers, material suppliers, equipment vendors, and internal engineering teams. Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and Gantt charts to ensure on-time delivery. Manage project budgets, tooling expenses, and manufacturing development costs. Evaluate manufacturing alternatives based on technical feasibility, quality requirements, and cost impact. Support production readiness, process validation, and successful manufacturing launches. Maintain accurate engineering, tooling, and project documentation within ERP and business systems. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in project engineering or a closely related engineering role. 5+ years of experience in plastics manufacturing, including injection molding. Strong understanding of plastic injection molding processes, mold design, tooling development, and mold construction. Experience reviewing part designs for manufacturability, including draft, side actions, shutoffs, and part geometry. Experience working with medical molding processes or medical device component manufacturing. Familiarity with High-Consistency Rubber (HCR), gum silicone, and/or Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) molding. Working knowledge of APQP, DOE, and manufacturing capability studies. Understanding of steel-safe and tolerance-safe tooling principles. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engineering projects, suppliers, schedules, and budgets. Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and Gantt charts. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience working with ERP systems. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent hands-on industry experience will be considered in place of a degree. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience supporting the medical device industry. Experience with both thermoplastic and thermoset injection molding. Experience with LSR, HCR, or other silicone molding technologies. Knowledge of medical device manufacturing quality requirements and
