We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Geotechnical Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Geotechnical Engineering Technician. This position focuses on geotechnical field observation and compaction testing of soils during grading operations, foundation construction, utility trench backfill, flatwork and pavements. The ideal candidate will have some experience in soil testing and geotechnical fieldwork and be comfortable working long days on construction sites under various environmental conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct geotechnical field observations and testing, including field compaction testing with a nuclear moisture/density gauge. Interpret geotechnical test results and perform basic technical calculations. Communicate field conditions clearly to geotechnical engineers, project managers and contractors. Work collaboratively with construction teams to ensure projects are staffed. Prepare accurate and detailed daily field reports. Adhere to construction site safety standards and protocols. Perform weekend and overtime work as needed. Lift and transport materials or equipment up to 50 lbs as required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or associate degree (AA/AS). 6 months to 3 years of experience in soil testing or geotechnical field observation. Valid driver's license (company vehicle provided for work-related travel). Must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Cornerstone's insurance carrier's driver policy. Ability to work long hours on construction sites under varying environmental conditions. Strong commitment to safety practices and protocols. Certification to operate a nuclear moisture/density gauge.

Certification Work Environment:
This position requires extensive fieldwork at construction sites, often in challenging outdoor environments. Candidates should be prepared for physically demanding tasks and exposure to various weather conditions. Strict adherence to construction site safety protocols is essential.
