$50/hr•$54.67/hr This opportunity supports civil engineering efforts within mission-critical infrastructure projects, where systems and facilities are designed to protect national security and enable high-consequence federal operations. Mission-critical infrastructure extends beyond visible facilities to include resilient systems and sites that must perform without failure. In partnership with the U.S. Federal Government, these efforts deliver secure, sustainable planning and design solutions for facilities worldwide•reducing risk through collaboration, innovation, and reliable civil site development in complex environments. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Senior Civil Engineering Technician serves in a lead technical role, supporting the development of high-quality civil engineering deliverables for complex infrastructure projects. This position applies advanced civil engineering knowledge to the creation and modification of site development plans, grading designs, and utility layouts using industry-standard tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D. The Senior Technician provides technical guidance, consultation, and training to technicians and engineering staff, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to design standards. This role may also coordinate and oversee assigned technicians while supporting both conceptual and detailed design activities to deliver efficient, accurate, and mission-aligned civil solutions. Job Summary Functions as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor Applies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline Contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation and deliverables Provides consultation, training, and oversight to engineering technicians to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project standards Key Responsibilities Establishes and communicates design and graphic standards Reviews project requirements to determine appropriate formats and deliverable content Promotes quality and consistency across projects and teams Reviews design inputs to ensure alignment and accuracy Ensures deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards Contributes to the continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processes Participates in and may lead process improvement and change management initiatives Manages drawing control and maintains historical project records Applies engineering principles and established practices to complex designs Exercises sound judgment in interpreting inputs and making design decisions Handles complex technical assignments and provides guidance to other professionals Performs design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation Reviews deliverables produced by others for quality and accuracy Coordinates presentations, production design, and use of electronic design tools Monitors production to ensure alignment with scope, budget, and schedule Coordinates with other design disciplines to support project development Supports field activities as needed Communicates design requirements, progress, and schedules effectively Client & Team Support Assists in identifying key client interests and project drivers Communicates client needs to project teams and helps develop solutions to address them Supports management in developing and implementing design standards and process improvements Identifies training and development needs for team members Serves as a subject matter expert in one or more technical areas Leads or contributes to special assignments, including solving complex design challenges Delivers presentations and conducts training within areas of expertise
