at MG2A in Manhattan, Illinois, United States Job Description The Engineering Tech Lead performs surveying, design drafting, and construction observation for municipal, utility, and development projects. This role includes increasingly independent field and office assignments, professional communication with contractors and the public, and receiving and applying direction from project leads. Travel includes local project sites in Illinois and occasional travel to Indiana. As an Engineering Tech Lead, you will contribute to infrastructure projects that strengthen communities, support municipal and utility services, and serve residential, commercial, and industrial development. Key Responsibilities Perform surveying assignments, operate equipment, and verify field data with limited supervision Collect and process survey data for mapping, plats, construction staking, and engineering design Prepare and revise CAD drawings including plats, base maps, construction drawings, and exhibits Perform technical design tasks such as surfaces, contours, profiles, details, and quantity calculations Prepare design solutions for storm sewer sizing, stormwater detention, sanitary sewer profiles, and proposed final grades Perform construction observation including measurements, photographs, testing coordination, daily reports, and progress documentation Communicate professionally with contractors, utility representatives, municipal staff, property owners, and the public Receive, understand, and act on direction from project leads while identifying issues requiring escalation Maintain organized project files, records, field notes, inspection reports, and design documentation Complete routine and moderately complex technical assignments independently while seeking guidance on advanced engineering, surveying, or construction issues Career Path and Advancement With demonstrated performance and continued professional development, this role offers advancement into MG2A's Project Lead and Project Engineer positions.
