Job Summary The Senior Civil Senior Engineering Technician - APG functions as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor supporting Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects within the Power Providers Market Sector. This role applies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges and leads design teams in the development of high-quality engineering deliverables for critical infrastructure projects. The position utilizes advanced engineering design tools and provides technical guidance, training, and oversight to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project standards. Job Description Establishes and communicates appropriate design and graphic standards. Reviews project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content. Promotes quality and consistency across projects, groups, and sections. Reviews design inputs to ensure alignment and consistency. Ensures deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards. May contribute to continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processes. May participate in and lead process improvement and change management activities. Manages drawing control and maintains historical project records. Applies engineering principles and established design practices to complex designs. Exercises sound judgment in interpreting inputs and making deliverable-related decisions. Handles complex technical assignments and provides guidance to other professionals. Performs design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation. May review deliverables produced by others for quality and accuracy. May coordinate presentations, production design, and use of electronic design tools. May monitor production to ensure consistency, budget, and schedule. May program control systems or support plant start-up activities within area of expertise. Coordinates with other design groups to exchange information for design development. May support field activities as required. Communicates project design requirements, progress, and schedules. Assists with identification of key client interests and drivers and may determine key clients in some instances. Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns. Assists discipline or department management in developing and communicating appropriate design standards and process improvement activities. Identifies and supports training and development needs for supervised personnel. Serves as a recognized technical expert and may be assigned special assignments involving complex design challenges or project-specific tasks. Makes presentations and conducts training classes within a specialized area of expertise. Skills Required A minimum of 11 years related work experience. Civil 3D experience required. MicroStation experience required. Bentley OpenPlant Modeler experience required. Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices. Experience creating and modifying site development plans. Proficiency with CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling tools. Ability to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. Strong technical leadership, mentoring, and training capabilities. Ability to solve complex design challenges and provide innovative engineering solutions. Knowledge of grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities. Education/Training/Certifications Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology required. Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
