Whether you're a current college student or a recent high school graduate exploring career paths, this temporary, paid internship provides real-world exposure to municipal engineering, fieldwork, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and construction management. As an Engineering Intern, you'll work side-by-side with our engineering staff on real city projects - learning what it takes to design, build, and maintain the systems that keep Newport running.

What You May Do:

Use surveying equipment to assist with field data collection Map and document streets, curbs, storm drains, and utility lines Update GIS records and assist with electronic mapping Observe and support construction inspection and quality control Review engineering plans and project documentation Use computer-aided drafting (CAD) tools to help with project planning Assist with research, including property ownership and legal descriptions Participate in project meetings and interact with contractors Tackle other hands-on engineering-related tasks as assigned
