Job Description

You will serve as a
ENGINEERING TECHNICAN
Two positions located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Upper Colorado Region, Design and Contract Admin Group, located in
PROVO,UTAH OR
Facility O&M Group located in
ALBUQUERQUE, NM.
Qualifications:
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/14/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. All candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: To qualify at the GS-07 , your resume must reflect one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-06 level: 1) utilizing computer aided drafting (CAD) software, 2) experience in surveying and 3) construction cost estimating of materials for projects; OR Completion of 1 full year of graduate level education directly related to the work of the Engineering Technician such as, engineering, construction, industrial technology; OR A combination of specialized experience and education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. To qualify at the GS-08 , your resume must reflect one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level performing: 1) creating packages and drawing sets utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) software with accuracy and attention to detail; 2) surveying and construction cost estimating of materials and 3) inspecting contractors work. To qualify at the GS-09 , your resume must reflect one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-08level in federal service: 1) creating packages and drawing sets utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) software with accuracy and attention to detail; 2) surveying and construction cost estimating of materials, 3) conducting field inspections to ensure contractor work meets requirements and standards and documenting findings; and 4) Preparing change orders, modifications, or technical review of claims, and preparing cost estimates; OR Completion of 1 full year of graduate level education directly related to the work of the Engineering Technician such as, engineering, construction, industrial technology; OR A combination of specialized experience and education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
