Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified transportation professional to join our transportation and construction services teams. This position offers the opportunity to support field operations on transportation infrastructure projects throughout Wisconsin, including highway, bridge, and survey projects for WisDOT and local governments. This role combines transportation survey operations with construction inspection responsibilities and is ideal for candidates who enjoy a mix of fieldwork, technology, and collaboration on active infrastructure projects. Description Perform field and office survey tasks, including one-person crew operations Perform daily construction inspection on WisDOT highway and bridge projects Operate Trimble survey equipment including
SX10/SX12
total stations, R980/R12i GNSS receivers, and
TSC5/TSC7
data collectors Process field data and create project deliverables using survey and construction software platforms Document field activities, track quantities, and prepare daily reports using WisDOT-approved systems such as AASHTOWare Project Conduct or observe material testing including concrete, asphalt, soils, and aggregates in accordance with WisDOT standards Interpret plans, specifications, and standards to ensure contractor compliance Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, WisDOT staff, and internal teams to resolve field issues and maintain project progress Assist with traffic control reviews, erosion control monitoring, and safety compliance Support transportation projects for WisDOT and local government clients across Wisconsin Qualifications EducationExperience Associate degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field 2-10+ years of experience on transportation, highway, bridge, survey or construction inspection projects Experience with robotic and GPS survey equipment Experience with construction inspection practices Ability to travel throughout Wisconsin, including occasional overnight stays Technical Knowledge Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License or ability to obtain in the future Certified Survey Technician (CST) Level 1 or higher Wis
DOT HTCP
certifications (Aggregates, Concrete, Asphalt, Density) AutoCAD/Civil 3D experience Trimble Business Center experience Understanding of WisDOT transportation design and construction processes Experience with WisDOT fieldwork, inspection documentation, and deliverable creation Experience using AASHTOWare Project Professional Skills Strong oral and written communication Strong organization, documentation, and recordkeeping abilities Computer literacy, including use of relevant communication, documentation, and file organization software Strong math, analytical, and problem solving skills InterpersonalLeadership Skills Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a team-oriented environment Other Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer. We will not provide sponsorship for this position. Physical Requirements Walking five (5) miles or more in a day on uneven terrain or active construction sites Prolonged standing and walking in varying outdoor conditions Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
