at Department of Transportation in Ottawa, Illinois, United States Job Description Essential Functions Ensures that studies and plans prepared within the unit as well as those prepared by consulting engineers are accurate, complete, and in compliance with policies and procedures or acceptable variations and represent the most cost-efficient designs. Motivates, trains, and evaluates subordinate personnel. Coordinates the activities of subordinate personnel with other sections within the bureau and consults engineers to ensure that studies and plans are completed in time to meet prescribed schedules. Ensures safety of the subordinates. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois OR current registration as a Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois. Four years of experience in civil engineering. Preferred Qualifications Good oral and written communication skills. Supervisory experience. Experience with preparation of highway or bridge plans. Strong organizational skills. Conditions of Employment Valid driver's license. Occasional districtwide travel. Successful completion of a background screening. Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position.
