Department:
Art & Design AAD Job Summary The Design and Media Studies department at County College of Morris seeks a dedicated faculty member to teach all levels of undergraduate interdisciplinary Design courses. These may include areas of Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising. Possible course offerings may include visual communication, emerging technologies in design industries and concept- based design. Participating in department and college service, including but not limited to student advisement, revising and developing courses and curriculum, various administrative tasks, and committee work, is expected. Applicants must be able to collaborate with other programs and departments, as well as develop and teach new interdisciplinary courses. Willingness to explore innovative methods and implement new methods of instruction/technology are ideal. Qualifications - Education Master's degree from an accredited design program, in a related field of Design is required (MA, MFA, MID, M.Arch, MS, etc.). Candidates holding a bachelor's degree in a related design field with 2+ years of professional experience including 2 years of higher ed teaching experience and expect to complete a graduate degree within a design discipline (Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising) are encouraged to apply. Qualifications - Experience The ideal candidate possesses innovative thinking and has experience in teaching or practicing emerging technologies in design and visual arts. Prior college teaching experience is preferred. Experience in teaching in a community college is desired. Candidates who, by virtue of training and/or experience, have background in diverse areas of design and new digital media as it relates to design, are preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to bring leadership to broadening the mission and focus of the Design Program as well as the Design and Media Studies Department as a whole. Experience in online course development and online teaching is preferred. Qualifications - Skills Ideal candidate should exhibit a curiosity to learn, explore and innovate across the program. The Design and Media Studies has a commitment to foundational learning as well as emerging and innovative practices. Providing a strong educational experience that includes foundational, digital and critical thinking methods are required. A portfolio of both student and professional work will show evidence of commitment to teaching excellence and inclusive practices.
