Job Description

We're looking for a motivated Engineering Designer II to join our Civil/Site Discipline in Buffalo, NY. This is your chance to put engineering principles into practice from collecting and processing data to preparing technical reports, plans, and contract documents. Your level of involvement will grow with your experience and exposure, giving you the opportunity to take on more responsibility as you develop. At Colliers Engineering & Design, you won't just be working on projects, you'll be shaping communities. Our Civil/Site team works on everything from massive warehousing complexes and high-profile sports arenas to residential/commercial developments and mixed-use destinations in vibrant downtowns. Perform engineering calculations and create estimates. Develop drawings by modifying or replicating a prior project, applying changes and corrections from redlined drawings, and/or creating drawings from sketches of others or from own design. Ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards. Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc. Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects and respond to requests for information regarding same. Conduct field inspections and surveys, investigate variables, obtain measurements, photographs, videos, and take notes; write reports documenting same. Research and apply code provisions to design. Work with senior engineers to create project designs. Utilize Autocad Civil 3D on a daily basis. Research design options and document findings for project manager. Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using own judgement to make adaptations and modifications to existing designs. Assist Project Engineers and leaders as needed in the creation of designs. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field). 2-4+ years of related experience. Engineer in Training preferred. Valid driver's license preferred. Interest in Civil/Site Engineering projects; prior experience preferred but not required. Strong CAD skills, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and WaterCAD. Strong Microsoft Office skills. Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions. Attention to detail. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Land Development project experience is a plus.
Compensation:
$71,000 to $85,000 per year (depending on qualifications)
