Architectural Draftsperson (Hourly) Citydeskstudio Inc. — St. Paul (Hybrid or Remote) About Citydeskstudio Citydeskstudio is a design-focused architectural practice working across high-end residential and select small-scale development projects throughout the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota. Our work is rooted in precision, clarity, and an architecture of optimism — with an emphasis on thoughtful detailing, clean documentation, and strong collaboration with clients and builders. We are currently seeking a freelance architectural draftsperson to support ongoing project work on an hourly basis. Role Overview This is a production-focused role for someone who can step into active projects and contribute immediately to drawing sets, detailing, and documentation. You will work directly with the project designers to translate design intent into clear, accurate, and buildable construction documents. Regular progress reviews (draft sets) will guide the progress of each project. This is not an entry-level position — we are looking for someone who understands how buildings are assembled and can work efficiently and independently. Key Responsibilities Develop and produce construction documents (CDs) with accuracy and consistency Assist in design development and detailing, particularly for residential projects Translate sketches, redlines, and conversations into clear, buildable drawings Coordinate drawings with structural and MEP consultants Maintain clean, organized, and well-structured drawing files Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or coordination issues proactively What We're Looking For 3-7+ years of experience in architectural drafting (residential experience strongly preferred) Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, and Sketchup (primary platforms) Understanding of wood-frame construction, detailing, and assemblies Familiarity with Minnesota residential codes (or ability to get up to speed quickly) Ability to work independently, efficiently, and accurately Willingness to take direction and incorporate feedback Strong communication skills — clear, direct, and professional Work Structure Freelance / hourly (1099) Flexible hours, based on project needs Combination of remote work + in-person coordination Opportunity for ongoing, repeat collaboration if the fit is strong Compensation Hourly rate: $25-$40/hour, depending on experience and capability Or commensurate with experience To apply please send Resume Brief portfolio or sample drawing set (PDF) Short note describing your experience with residential CDs to : bawes@citydeskstudio.com
