JOB TITLE

Job Captain / Architect HYA is currently seeking a job captain to join our office. The candidate will work closely with the project manager and design team to develop, detail, and coordinate schematic design through construction documents and project completion. The candidate must be creative, well-organized, self-motivated and collaborative. This position is not remote. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance to Palo Alto and legally authorized to work in the United States. HYA is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

B Arch or M Arch degree from a NAAB accredited architecture program 3-6 years of experience in commercial and/or single family residential architecture Be eligible to work in California through existing right or active visa Knowledge of CBC and CRC standards, design, and detailing in Type V construction Be licensed or in a licensure track Strong design and project management skills Fluent in several software programs, ArchiCAD (preferred) Thoughtful design skills and strong portfolio, including examples of construction drawings Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and self-management

RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate effectively with the project manager and design team in the development of the design with limited supervision Create preliminary and schematic design drawing packages for client presentations and design review boards Manage production, organization, and coordination of drawing sets with an exceptional standard of craft and quality Seek innovative approaches to communicate design ideas efficiently, effectively, and artfully using various software platforms Competitive salary and bonuses Paid vacation and holidays Simple IRA plan and transit allowance Medical, dental, and vision health care plans Life insurance and disability plans
