Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Senior Designer at Aria Group plays a crucial role within the project team, assisting in the development and execution of cohesive design packages. They effectively communicate design concepts both internally and externally, ensuring alignment across the team. Through concept sketches and visual representations, the Senior Designer clearly conveys design intent, enabling successful execution and timely delivery within budget. As a key team member, the Senior Designer works closely with the Project Coordinator to manage essential project elements, fostering a seamless collaboration between design and technical teams. While they follow the guidance of the Project Designer, the Senior Designer is also encouraged to generate innovative design concepts and solutions, driving creativity and excellence in every project.
Core Responsibilities:
Assist the Project Designer with the conceptual design process, collaborating to create impactful and innovative design ideas that effectively communicate the design intent to the team and clients. Develop comprehensive design packages, including plans, elevations and key details, ensuring cohesiveness and alignment with client objectives and project requirements. Collaborate with the Project Designer and Project Coordinator to maintain efficient and seamless integration of design and technical aspects throughout the project lifecycle. Take a proactive role in navigating technical challenges, offering creative and innovative solutions to ensure the design intent is maintained throughout the project. Contribute to the preparation and presentation of design concepts to clients, providing clear explanations of design choices and how they align with project goals and constraints. Assist with the coordination of design packages and construction documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant building codes, accessibility standards (ADA), and safety regulations. Oversee and mentor junior staff, guiding them in their professional development and encouraging collaboration and growth within the team. Foster strong communication within the project team to ensure timely updates on design progress, issues, and potential challenges, and actively participate in the resolution of any obstacles. Ensure all design decisions and revisions are documented clearly and are aligned with client expectations, budgets, and timelines. Stay current with industry trends, building technology, and sustainability practices, and integrate innovative solutions into the design process. Conduct thorough QA/QC reviews to facilitate project efficiency and staff development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited institution. 6 to 9 years of architectural design experience, particularly in the hospitality sector, with a focus on restaurant and other related sectors (hotels, entertainment venues, multi-use facilities, office/retail, and planning). Experience in designing within relevant building codes, accessibility standards, and sustainability standards. Proven ability to generate conceptual designs, articulate design intent, and produce high-quality deliverables through all design phases. Strong understanding of architectural and interior design principles, materials, and building technologies. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage clients, consultants, and internal teams effectively.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud is required. Experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft office, SketchUp, Illustrator, and other 3D modeling software is a plus. Knowledge of construction documentation, design software tools, and presentation techniques. Familiarity with sustainable design principles and LEED or other green building certification processes is an advantage.
