JOB TITLE

Specialist Designer

• Highways ROLE:

  Designer / CAD modeler
• working on Transportation
• Highways, Drainage and Land Development projects

Essential Criteria:

• Has advanced and specialized expertise in analytical / technical processes.
• Several years working within engineering and design sector, preferably with a background in Highways and Drainage.
• Experience on Highway/ Drainage CAD layouts.
• Experience of working with ProjectWise is preferable.
• Working knowledge of BIM and drawing processes.
• Proficient in the use of CAD/BIM software, particularly AutoCAD, MicroStation and Navisworks.
• An experienced view and clear understanding of the highways and hierarchy of designs, models, Data Shortcuts and drawings.
• Checking/reviewing of models and drawings produced by others.
• Working knowledge of MS Office software packages.
• Ability to plan work to make optimum use of time.
• Excellent communication skills and able to lead and/or work as part of a multi-disciplinary CAD team.
• Good awareness of a typical Highways design cycle.

QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma

• Civil Draftsman 3 yrs
• Diploma (Civil engineering) or degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

20+ years proven experience on infrastructure projects and detail design of Highways and drainage with BIM/modelling skills.

KEY COMPETENCY

• Technical Skills Proficient in AutoCAD / MicroStation and working knowledge in C3D or Open Roads tools.

Working experience with highway projects in ANZ/ASIA/Middle East/ UK/ USA projects is desirable.

KEY COMPETENCY

• Soft Skills Proficiency in MS Outlook, and MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).

Good communication & IT skills. Self-starter and keen to develop automation in CAD processes. Experience in Global Design Centre business preferred. At Jacobs we value people.
